Happy birthday my dear Deaprtment

On July 7, 2023, the Foundation Day of Journalism Department, Ranchi University was celebrated. The director, teachers, students and staff celebrated the 37th foundation day of the journalism department by cutting a cake in the auditorium of the department. It may be noted that for the first time the foundation day of the department has been celebrated. Establishment of Journalism Department of Ranchi University On July 7, 1987 Padmashree Balbir Dutt, late RN Jha, Purnendu Shekhar Tiwari and other senior journalists had laid the foundation of Jharkhand Bihar’s first journalism department in association with Ranchi University.

On this occasion, Director Dr. B.P. Addressing the students, Sinha said that he has a very old and cordial relationship with the Department of Journalism, Ranchi University and I am proud to have taught here decades ago. Today we all are fortunate that in 37 years, the department has reached this point by achieving glorious achievements.

Founder member Purnendu Shekhar Tiwari told many bitter sweet memories about the journey from the beginning of the department from a small room till today and said that the department started with a few benches, a cupboard and a typewriter. Today it is a very pleasant feeling to see this department equipped with its building, premises and equipment.

Alumni and librarian of the department Dr. Sushil Ranjan, Professor Dr. Sankarshan Paripooran, Manoj Kumar Sharma also told the students about the establishment of the department, their student life and achievements of the department. Many students including departmental staff Dahru Toppo, Rekha Bakhala were present on this occasion.
